Doña Vicky Mexican Food Newwest

Doña Vicky Mexican food in New West is really good, and I’ve really enjoyed what I’ve tried so far. The flavors are a little different from what I’m used to with Mexican food, which makes me think it’s more like food from the south of Mexico, while I’m more used to central-style dishes. Still, everything tasted fresh and well made. I definitely want to go back soon to try their praised birria tacos.

Really good authentic Mexican food. On point on the seasoning. Be ready to hear some bands music while enyoing your delicious order of 4 birria-tacos and broth. They also have quesabirrias and half lt of refreshing aguas frescas. Only opens on the weekends.

We ordered for two people through Uber Eats: birria tacos, quesabirrias, and a 1L horchata. Overall, 10/10. The birria tacos were my favourite—they tasted like freshly made birria, great size, and a very generous amount of meat. The consomé deserves a special mention: it didn’t taste reheated and wasn’t overly greasy, which I really appreciated. The quesabirrias were also delicious, with great flavour, good size, and a good meat-to-cheese ratio. My only small suggestion would be to add just a bit more cheese. The packaging for the cilantro, onions, and lime was 10/10. I also really appreciated that they use red onion instead of white, since white onion can be very overpowering. As for the salsas, both the green and red ones could be a bit spicier—neither had much heat. The horchata was good. The flavour didn’t really surprise me, but it wasn’t disappointing either. The sweetness level was well balanced, not too sugary. I’d give it an 8/10. Overall, the food really surprised me in the best way. I’ll definitely be ordering again!

Food was easily the best authentic Mexican we’ve had outside of Mexico and San Diego. We ordered the quesabirria, tacos with birria, and Mexican Coca Cola in the classic glass bottles. They had hot sauces and toppings on the table, so you can garnish to your preference. Atmosphere was top notch - loud Spanish music playing, beautiful vibrant colour inside, and tables full of families with little kids and grandparents. Just a fun, lighthearted vibe. A testament to the high quality: we went this morning for an early lunch (around 11:30) and every table was filled. But service was prompt, so we didn’t wait long.

Seems to always be a long line here, but it’s worth it. As authentic as it gets for Mexican cuisine in the lower mainland.

Delicious food, excellent service. I went to the restaurant for an order, in which there was a small error, they resolved it immediately and sent the correct order to my home without any problem. I recommend the place for its excellent service, attention to detail and delicious food.
